Civil Services (IAS, IPS, IFS) — UPSC

The UPSC Civil Services Examination recruits officers for the IAS, IPS, IFS (Foreign Service) and other central services. It has three stages: Prelims (objective), Mains (written) and an interview.

It offers the chance to shape policy and serve millions of people. School and college students can prepare the foundations early, without dropping out for coaching.

• •An optional subject in Mains, often your degree subject.
• •Essay writing, ethics and answer writing.

1. 1In school: read NCERT Class 6–12 books well and a newspaper daily.
2. 2In college: choose a degree subject you enjoy and could take as your optional; keep your grades up.
3. 3In the final year or after graduation: apply online when UPSC notifies the exam (usually February).
