I keep getting “Slope” questions wrong in Straight Lines. What's the trap?

inverting the formula to (x₂−x₁)/(y₂−y₁).

The usual trap: inverting the formula to (x₂−x₁)/(y₂−y₁). How to avoid it: slope is 'rise over run' — change in y over change in x. Go back to the definition — the steepness of a line, m = (y₂−y₁)/(x₂−x₁) = tanθ.

Key point

Slope

Common mistake

inverting the formula to (x₂−x₁)/(y₂−y₁).

Memory tip

slope is 'rise over run' — change in y over change in x.
