When do I use a·b = |a||b|cosθ in Vectors & 3D Geometry, and what does it mean?

dot product (scalar).

a·b = |a||b|cosθ — dot product (scalar). Use it when: θ is the angle between the vectors. Always check the condition holds before plugging in numbers.

Key point

a·b = |a||b|cosθ
